This item isn’t exactly new, but I was still able to acquire a Dualshock 3 Metallic Gold controller from my favourite online video game vendor.
Yes, it’s a normal Dualshock 3 controller in virtually every technical aspect save for the lustrous gold coat which made it stand out from its ordinary-looking cousins who wear the ceramic white and other common colours acquiescently.
I think that this quasi-white elephant is going to be on my display cabinets for a long time yet – my last two ceramic white soldiers have done an awesome job in withstanding the rigours of MW3 and Battlefield 3 remarkably. One of them had its left thumbstick virtually chipped around the circumference (but still working tirelessly well!) whereas the other one is already numb and unresponsive in the same area, behaving erratically when called to action. I mean, I had played lots of games before the aforementioned 2011 marquee titles, but its effects were not tangibly felt until I thrashed out round and round of multiplayer games. So, I’m reluctant to commit this gold controller to the frontline and see it ruined before long.
Instead, I’ve lined up a replacement – a brand new Dualshock 3 in urban camo. I haven’t tried it yet, but I’ll post up pics of this new beast soon.
