Arsenal is coming back to Kuala Lumpur in 2012!

Last year on 13 July, the Arsenal was on tour in Malaysia and played against the national side XI on 13 July 2012 at the Bukit Jalil Stadium (report here).

The official site today announced that the Gunners are scheduled to visit Malaysia again to play a match against the same side on 24 July 2012 (that would be on a Tuesday, for you people who are working). It’s a pretty late kickoff at 9:45 p.m., probably because of the traffic jam leading to the stadium and for the benefit of perpetual latecomers (aka ardent zealots of Malaysian punctuality).

I’m telling you – in any case, I’d definitely be going for this match and would be scoping out for ticket sales soon.

And this time you Gooners – fill up the whole stadium, dammit! If Liverpool can ensure a full-capacity crowd when they came visiting last year as well, how can the Arsenal not ace that? There were large pockets of empty seats last year (see file pic below) and it was rather disappointing to see.

what is this

It may be a working day the next and a school day perhaps, but being an Arsenal fan goes beyond such trivialities.

We’ve somewhat pulled through a rather difficult season (very heavy defeat to Man Ure), lots of heartbreak with the loss of Cesc Fabregas and dropped (for the first time that I’m watching an Arsenal team managed by Wenger) to an unfamiliar and uncomfortable 15th place in the Premier League last year – but we’ve straightened the ship, signed influential players, whupped the Chelski in their own yard, got some of the best from Robin van Persie, displayed awesome fighting spirit against AC Milan in the CL, witnessed another legend in-the-making in Mikel Arteta, just beaten obscenely flagrant spenders Man City and looked pretty good in 3rd place right now with its other London-based neighbours dropping points just a day ago. So, it’s time to welcome the club here and to let them know that their heroics have not and will not go unnoticed.

Until then, keep your eyes peeled for the sale of tickets and I’ll let you all know as soon as I’ve gotten mine.

Hi there, could you advise me where to purchase the tickets? I am from Singapore and would like to go for the match.

  2. Artur says:

Hi, Esther. I’ve checked online today for any updates on the sale of tickets for the match and there’s nothing new yet. Last year’s agent was Ticketpro.com.my but I’m not sure if it’s the same this time.

  3. Esther says:

Thanks Artur for the information! I guess I have to check on Ticketpro.com.my regularly from now. 🙂

  4. Wendy says:

is it confirmed on the 24th July? last time i saw in the internet it was on the 24th of june. I really wanted to go and watch this match.

    • Artur says:

Yea, it’s on 24 July. The Euro 2012 starts on 8 June and ends on 1 July, so it’s unlikely that clubs would be going on pre-season tour at that time.

So far, there are still no updates on ticket sales, though.

  5. Artur says:

Confirmed – Ticketpro.com.my is the official Arsenal Tour 2012 ticket agent : http://www.ticketpro.com.my/jnp/sports/football/883316-arsenal.html
